For over 144 years Vrnjacka Banja has been attracting people with the beneficial effects of its mineral waters accompanied by its scenic beauty. Its vast gardens created by famous gardeners of the time over a century ago are unique in Serbia. It is situated in the central part of the Republic of Serbia, about 200km south of Belgrade.
The Merkur is located in Vrnjacka Banja, an oasis of health, energy, beauty. It is the state-of-the-art centre for diagnosing, treatment and rehabilitation, and it comprises four accommodation buildings, polyclinic employing forty doctors, and the largest spa centre in this part of the Balkans.
Vrnjacka Banja has 7 mineral springs, 4 of which are applied in balneological treatments, namely: Topla voda (Hot water), mineral spring located at the central core area; Sneznik, located within the zone around the Vrnjacka river; Slatina – within the zone of the Lipovacka river; Jezero – the spring located in the park at the half way point from Sneznik to Slatina.
From 28.05-05.06.2011. Vrnjacka Banja was the host of the 31st FECC Convention (FECC Federation of European Carnival Cities). During this period Vrnjacka Banja was visited by representatives of European Carnival Cities, and became European Capital of Carnivals. Each FECC Convention attracts attention of senior government officials of participating countries, so it was a great opportunity to promote Vrnjacka Banja and Serbia.
